Section Leaders
SECTION LEADERS
THANK YOU for your commitment to serving as a section leader on our worship & production team.
Your commitment allows us to maintain a healthy volunteer culture where every person who serves is seen, has a voice and is cared for. We’ve found that coaching is one of the greatest means of discipleship in our context, and together we can grow in our callings and commitment to Christ, while raising up future coaches and leaders.
PURPOSE
Develop Relationships - your first and foremost role as a Section Leader is to invest your heart and time in building relationships with your volunteer(s). As these relationships grow and deepen, you will have opportunities to encourage and challenge them to grow, not only in their skills as leaders, but on their journeys as Christ-followers, too.
Carry Culture - we believe the culture we create is more important than the vision we cast. As a Section Leader, you embody The Bridge leadership behaviors and commit to live them out. You’re someone who always shows up on time and is prepared with a high level of excellence. Far greater, you carry the “gospel-culture” of Jesus that is essential to living a life devoted to God.
EXPECTATIONS
Pray for your volunteer(s)
Reach out to your volunteer(s) consistently and individually (How are you? How can I pray for you?)
Be intentional about grabbing coffee with your volunteer(s) occasionally
Encourage your volunteer(s) to develop their calling (spiritually and practically)
TIPS
It’s so important to have awareness into what one another is carrying onto the platform or in our serving roles. This means establishing trust and transparency with volunteers, which isn’t always easy, but is so vital.
That’s why we want our Section Leaders to get to know their volunteer(s) (their passions, their story, their dreams, etc) in the best ways possible. We know some of you will connect more often than others, while some of you may only touch base once or twice a month. We’re not going to tell you when or how often to reach out (that is at your discretion- we trust you for a reason!), but here are some helpful questions to ask your volunteer(s):
How are you this week?
What are some ways I can be praying for you?
What is God teaching you?
How is your Bridge Group going?
What sermon has stood out to you recently?
Is there anything you (and your family) need?
While it’s helpful to ask questions, it’s equally as important to provide encouragement. Did you read something from Read The Book or during your quiet time that spoke to you? Share it with your volunteer(s)!! Did you hear an encouraging podcast or sermon? Share it with your volunteer(s)!! Is a worship song really resonating with you in this season? …You get the point :-)
EXPECTATIONS FROM US
We promise to encourage you as you encourage others. That means that YOUR leader is someone on our Creative Staff. We will share resources, encouragement, information and any help you need to set you up for success as a Section Leader on our team.
FAQ
What if I don’t connect well with my assigned volunteer(s)?
Please let us know and keep us updated! We’re operating from our “Creative Seasons Calendar” which is 3 seasons of 4 months. At the end of every season, we’ll gather feedback and re-evaluate the Section Leader/Volunteer Roster and make adjustments as needed. This is not an eternal pairing (unless things are going really well!) :-)
What happens if I need help with a volunteer?
We know that a walk with Christ full of ups and downs. If a volunteer is walking through a particularly difficult circumstance or scenario, please make us aware so we can come alongside you and the volunteer! In emergency situations, please let us know as soon as possible (i.e. hospital visits, etc)
What if something comes up and I can't finish the season?
All we ask is that you keep us in the loop if something arises :-)
Can I ask my volunteer(s) to do other things besides coffee?
Of course! Feel free to “do life” with them in ways that will feed your soul!
